Venue
Everything will take place at Hintantie 18, right by the Oulu river. It’s a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces surrounded by trees, water and endless light, the perfect setting for a summer celebration.
The ceremony will be held on the small dock, followed by food, drinks and dancing across the riverside grounds. As the evening goes on, guests can move between the music, the sauna and even take a refreshing dip in the river.
The place belongs to Emmi’s dad, Pave, who has opened the doors of his studio and the surrounding grounds for the weekend. It’s a special place for us, and we can’t wait to fill it with all of you.
Trains, Planes and pillows
Getting there
The easiest way to reach Oulu is by flying via Helsinki and taking a short one-hour connection north. Oulu Airport is about twenty minutes from the city centre and the venue.
You can also travel by train, either a daytime route or the overnight sleeper from Helsinki. It’s a relaxed way to see more of Finland. Book train tickets at vr.fi.

Weather in finland
Finnish summer is warm and bright, with long days that melt into golden nights.
In July, Oulu is usually around 20–25°C, sometimes even hotter, though like British summer sometimes it can be unpredictable.
Bring sunglasses, light layers and maybe a jumper, just in case the northern breeze decides to drop by.
Few Finnish Words
Finnish might sound tricky at first, but don't worry most Finns speak really good English.
Here are a few useful ones to know:
Hei – Hello
Kiitos – Thank you
Moi moi – Bye
Kippis – Cheers
There isn’t a direct word for please — Finns keep it simple.
Say what you need, smile, and it usually works.
Tips for Finland in General
Finnish people love their quiet moments as much as their celebrations, so don’t be surprised if conversations come with pauses.
Public transport is clean and easy to use, tap water is delicious, and the air is some of the freshest in the world.
Small talk isn’t really a thing, so if you ask “how are you?” and get the long version, just roll with it.
About Oulu
Oulu is Emmi’s hometown, a northern seaside city that feels both familiar and full of new things to discover.
In summer 2026, Oulu will be the European Capital of Culture, which means art, music and events will fill the city all season.
Our wedding weekend also coincides with Qstock, one of Finland’s biggest summer music festivals, so expect a lively atmosphere and a lot happening around town.
Book your travel and accommodation early, then enjoy the buzz while you’re here.
